ASAPconnect launched in 2008 as California After School Technical Assistance (CASTA). The original vision for the organization was to build the capacity of Technical Assistance (TA) Providers to better support the diverse needs of 4,500 expanded learning programs (before school, after school, and summer learning) across the state. It was developed under the auspices of the Cooperative Research and Extension Services in Schools Center at UC Davis.

In 2010, ASAPconnect moved its operations to the Santa Clara County Office of Education in San Jose, CA.


We work to advance excellence and build a positive school and community climate by creating opportunities to support and develop comprehensive, coordinated, and exemplary TA Providers. It is our hope that through multiple levels of support, these TA Providers will in turn become equipped to support high quality expanded learning programs and create safe and supportive environments for staff and students throughout the state.

Our services are aligned with the Strategic Plan of the California Department of Education Expanded Learning Division (ExLD). We are well-leveraged to support the System of Support for Expanded Learning (SSEL) – a diverse group of ExLD staff, County Office of Education staff, and others who work collaboratively to support publicly-funded programs, specifically After School Education and Safety (ASES) and 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) programs.
